#1. “Offering to Quetzalcoatl”, 28” x 22”, 1993, Semen-acrylic collage on canvas.
This painting was stolen in August of 1996. Typical of Castillo’s work during this period, it is done over a collage of Castillo’s “Fiesta del Sol” poster done for Pilsen neighbors in Chicago, Illinois.

#2. “Eroticism”, 20” x 16”, 2001, acrylic on canvas. This painting was taken off the wall at the IMCE Galeria Artes de Mexico, 702 N. Wells, Chicago, IL. This happened during the Casa Michoacana Art Auction in the summer of 2002.

#3. This is a lino-cut print (image size: 15.5”x 22”), originally done for a human rights portfolio in 1996 referring to the current events in Chiapas, Mexico. This initial print is darker. After this portfolio, Castillo had an edition (sample above) hand pulled by Tomas Castro Bringas, an artist from Durango, Mexico. This was in the summer of 1999 at the Taller de Grafica Mexicana, at the APO building, across from Jumping Bean Cafe in Pilsen, Chicago. At the time the Taller was under the leadership of Hector Duarte and/or Edgar Lopez. At the end of the run there were 9 (nine) prints which were left behind in the taller. APO closed the Taller down and the prints were
not able to be removed. When the taller was opened again Castillo was told by Edgar Lopez that the prints were gone. These were meant to be part of an edition. They are not hand signed nor numbered in pencil. There is a specific code being used by the artist to label these and only he has the information.

#4. This is similar to #1. It was taken at the same time, but found damaged in the contents of an artist’s studio when these were thrown out by the landlord after the occurrence of a fire at 1031 West 19th Street in Chicago, IL. It is shown here to see if it helps in the recovery of painting #1.
