The image on the left is a detail from the
Mayahuel (Goddess of the Maguey Plant)
poster. Being inspired by the idea of "Mother
Earth" inherent in Mayahuel, Castillo decided
to represent the concept of "Mother Universe".
It is a tribute to the creative feminine principle
in the cosmos. It also pays homage to the rich
cultural legacy Mexican-Americans inherited
from the ancient Mesoamericans.

This 96"x192" size mural is titled, "The
Ancient Memories of Mayahuel's People
Still Breathe". It was done for the exhibit
about Mexican culture in Chicago first held
at The Chicago Historical Society. Now, it is
part of the permanent collection of Chicago's
Mexican Fine Arts Center Museum and is
currently being shown in the "Mexicanidad"
exhibit.

This is the first time a poster is done solely
to promote Castillo's signature style of
Perceptualism. Look for future additions.
