This
is a detail of "Huichol Dreamtime". It is a fine art digital print
done on canvas.
Giclee (pronounced Zhee-clay) in French means to spray or spurt as does the
ink in an inkjet printer. The first giclees were done on an Iris printer between
1987 and 1989.
The 1990's saw great advancements in this new technology. By now there are several
companies that have designed large format printers to meet the demand by artists
for archival quality prints.
Throughout the history of art, there has never been a printing process that
reproduces the original work of art in a truly faithful way that is second to
none. The superior quality of these prints is creating quite a stir within the
art scene. Art museums and galleries throughout the world are exhibiting this
new art form.
Castillo works closely with the Digital Lab at Elizabeth & Company-Design
Solutions in Hobart, Indiana to monitor the color outcome. They use the best
archival materials for superior color and lasting quality.
